The event took place from Wednesday July 19, to Saturday, July 22 at the Marriott Pittsburgh City Center. This no cost event provided an opportunity for Afghans to talk to staff from US, Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh government agencies, a variety of service providers, and others to assist in welcoming new neighbors and helping them settle in the United States.
Different individuals and a few other agencies visited the Hello Neighbor table. We were thrilled to connect with new neighbors we hadn’t had the chance to meet yet and our current clients. It’s always particularly meaningful for us to connect someone with our programs! At this event we met a student who was especially excited about the Study Buddy program and we set him up to enroll! Our team also prepared an informational presentation for all the clients that came to the support center. From our client pool, 74 clients were served at the Support Center, including women, youth, children and many families.
In total, around 400 individuals were served by the Afghan Support Center in Pittsburgh and we are very proud to join with other organizations and resettlement agencies to provide the support our newest Afghan neighbors deserve.
