Interpreters

Hello Neighbor has a variety of opportunities for translation, interpretation and language services. Preference for candidates who can do in-person and phone interpretation. Current language needs include: Arabic, Nepali, Burmese and Swahili. We offer interpretation training and competitive hourly rates.

Social Media Community Manager

As Hello Neighbor grows, we want to make sure we are engaging as much with our online audiences as possible. We are looking for support primarily for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram but also have a presence on YouTube, Vimeo and LinkedIn. We are open to community managers who specialize in one channel, or someone who is willing to work with us on content across multiple social media platforms.

This is a part-time contract role. Ideally we would love a junior account executive at a PR/marketing/advertising agency to work with us for a set period of time as a pro-bono project within their agency. We are also open to freelancers and consultants. You will report directly to the Founder/CEO. Location can either be in Pittsburgh (our base) or remote.

Primary Objectives:

  • Help develop individual and unique brand voices for our various social media channels.
  • Write compelling copy for social media posts that are true to the Hello Neighbor brand and tone of voice.
  • Lead organization of creating and scheduling our content calendar.
  • Work with the Hello Neighbor team to create response strategies for incoming inquiries and create a dialogue with the community around content topics.
  • Participate and actively contribute new and exciting ideas to implement in future campaigns and initiatives.

What you bring to Hello Neighbor

  • A creative and unique perspective on community management.
  • A team player attitude, and willingness to pitch in with other areas of social when needed.

You are/have:

  • An outgoing, creative thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Immersed in social media
  • Genuine in your desire to help make the world a better place, especially in supporting our refugee and immigrant communities
  • 2-4 Years of experience, preferably in an agency
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • An ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Experience in community management
  • Experience with social media management systems, analytics and social listening tools
  • Graphic design and video editing skills are a nice to have, not need to have

Internships

Hello Neighbor internships are hands-on opportunities to work directly with our full-time staff in the areas of program support, policy development, communications, marketing and fundraising. The right candidates will be self-directed, able to handle multiple tasks and priorities at once, be a hands-on team player and passionate about working with refugees.

We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2018 internships in the following areas:

  • Mentorship Program Support
  • Fundraising
  • Communications, Digital Marketing and Social Media
  • Policy and Research Projects
  • Video and Multimedia Support

Requirements:

Time: Minimum 12 hours a week (two days in our office). Interns are also asked to occasionally work nights and weekends at Hello Neighbor events as their schedule permits (usually 1-2 times per month).

Location: 6425 Living Place, Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 (Located at Bakery Square in East Liberty)

Compensation: Internships include a stipend (depending on number of hours) and school credit (if needed). We will be scheduling interviews as applications are received.

About You:

  • Smart and professional with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent computer proficiency including: Microsoft Office, Canva, Photoshop, Hootsuite and Video-Editing Software (if applicable)
  • Willingness to work on both big and small projects
  • Passionate about refugee and immigration issues
  • Knowledgeable about current events that are relevant to Hello Neighbor
  • You either love social media or your understand the power it can have on building community and are willing to learn more about how to use it effectively for nonprofits
