Program Manager

Working at Hello Neighbor is an opportunity to be on the ground floor of a fast-paced nonprofit startup. Founded in 2017, Hello Neighbor held our first mentorship program graduation in October and will begin accepting applications for the next round of mentors and mentees in November.

Who We're Seeking:

A dedicated and articulate Program Manager, who will be responsible for spearheading our signature mentorship program and developing community programming around the City of Pittsburgh. Your strong programmatic and leadership skills will help deliver on our strategic goals and continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and coordinate communication with mentors and mentees
  • Develop operations and processes to drive consistency and professionalism as we scale
  • Create projects plans, timelines and rollout plans that are in line with our strategic plan
  • Act as a liaison and support system for mentors and mentees (through our private FB group, weekly communications and in-person check-ins)
  • Build relationships with local organizations that support refugees
  • Develop and execute community programming and events (including but not limited to): Potlucks, Cultural Excursions, Sporting Events and Trainings
  • Lead fundraising campaigns for the mentoring program
  • Attend conferences, events and conduct public speaking on behalf of the organization
  • Work with the team on how best to highlight the mentoring program in communications and marketing materials

About You:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience
  • You know how to build relationships, but can also sit in front of your computer and execute
  • You have a passion for and track record of engaging with a diverse community
  • You are great at email, phone calls and public speaking (public speaking can be something we work on together)
  • You have excellent attention to detail and are process-oriented
  • You thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • You take your work seriously but not yourself
  • Ideally you are proficient in a second (or third) language but that is not required

Requirements:

  • Time: Minimum of 24 hours per week (3 days per week in our office). While this role will begin on a contract basis, we would like it to grow to full-time within 3-6 months.
  • Location: Alloy 26, 100 S. Commons, Suite 102, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
  • Compensation: Monthly stipend will be commensurate with experience.

Internships

Hello Neighbor internships are hands-on opportunities to work directly with our full-time staff in the areas of programming, policy, communications and fundraising. The right candidates will be self-directed, able to handle multiple tasks and priorities at once, be a hands-on team player and passionate about working with refugees.

We are currently accepting applications for Spring 2018 and Summer 2018 internships in the following areas:

  • Program and Policy - Working on our current mentorship program and building out new program opportunities, assisting with program evaluation, and drafting policy briefings.
  • Social Media Marketing and Fundraising - Creating content for our social media channels, assisting in fundraising campaigns and writing newsletter content.
  • Video and Multimedia - Creating short and engaging video content for Facebook, Instagram plus Vimeo and YouTube that captures our impact.

Requirements:

Time: Spring: Minimum 16 hours a week (two days in our office) | Summer: Minimum 24 hours a week (three days in our office). Both spring and summer interns are asked to work nights and weekends at Hello Neighbor events (usually 1-2 times per month).

Location: Alloy 26, 100 S. Commons, Suite 102, Pittsburgh, PA 15212

Compensation: Spring interns receive a stipend of $300. Summer interns receive a stipend of $600. We will work with your school to make sure you receive credit, if applicable.

As an intern, you will have a chance to represent Hello Neighbor at events and conferences and sit in on meetings with partners. Plus you'll have an opportunity to strengthen your resume and develop leadership qualities.

About You:

  • Smart and professional with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent computer proficiency including: Microsoft Office, Canva, Photoshop, Hootsuite and Video-Editing Software (if applicable)
  • Willingness to work on both big and small projects and tasks
  • Passionate about refugee and immigration issues
  • Knowledgeable about current events that are relevant to Hello Neighbor
  • You either love social media or your understand the power it can have on building community and are willing to learn more about how to use it effectively for nonprofits
