The New Neighbor Collective is a passionate community of neighbors, advocates and world changers on a mission to transform Pittsburgh and the United States into a place we can all proudly call home. We believe in a world where every refugee and immigrant has the opportunity to rebuild their lives with dignity and respect, and that begins with us.
Strength In Numbers
Through the support of dedicated neighbors like you, we have served over 4,000 refugees and immigrants from more than 65 countries of origin over the past 9 years.
We’ve watched refugee and immigrant parents gain confidence to enter the workforce and find assurance in knowing that they're providing for their families. We’ve supported new and expecting mothers in their journey through motherhood as they discover the courage to dream big dreams for the future once again.
We know our impact is only as strong as our community and that true change starts here and now with us.

“We came to Pittsburgh from Congo 2 years ago because there was no peace in our country, so we left when we had the opportunity to come to the U.S. When we arrived, the caseworker picked us up from the airport. Hello Neighbor really helped us by being welcoming and teaching us how to live in this country. I am proud that here, my family is taken care of. I like Pittsburgh because it is peaceful, and people here care about others. My goals are to make a good life for my family here, and eventually help to support my family back home.”

Join Our Community Of World Changers
Our community of monthly givers is made up of individuals from all backgrounds - they are parents, young professionals, students, CEOs, small business owners, teachers and everything in between. They can be found throughout Pittsburgh and around the country and they all have one thing in common - their unstoppable pursuit of a better, more welcoming world.
"Supporting a refugee is not a one-way endeavor; it is full of self-development and expansion of one's world view. Through long walks and chit chats, I was transported to floral hillsides in South America and key characters in a life's tale. I gained a frame of thought that belongs to a distinct culture, far from the Burgh. I was surprised by how a small amount of curiosity sparks even more, like a fire that is impossible to quench. I'm more keen than before to discover how other people live, speak, and move through life despite adversity. Being a mentor is a reciprocal way to learn these things about others while sharing aspects of your seemingly mundane life that might awaken such a marvelous curiosity in another."
