On Sunday, August 29th we were honored to host mentee orientation at the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh for our sixth mentorship cohort!

We invited 35 new families from 9 different countries to attend orientation and learn more about Hello Neighbor, our mission and programs, and what to expect on their mentorship journey. We split the day into three, one-hour sessions and had interpreters available to support communication and help answer questions, as well as counselors present for any families or individuals experiencing mental and emotional hardship during this challenging time.

While the adults learned more about our mentorship program, the kids laughed and played with volunteers on the playground and got to make some new friends.

Following each session, Hello Neighbor provided our newest neighbors and program participants with direct cash assistance checks from the Refugee Assistance Fund along with diapers and essential items for mothers and families.

It was an incredible day and we are so thankful to the volunteers, staff, families, and interpreters who came out to make it all possible! And a big thank you to the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh for hosting us in their space!
