Our founder and CEO Sloane Davidson’s recognition as a L’Oréal Paris Women of Worth honoree stands as a milestone moment for Hello Neighbor and our community. As part of the program’s 20th anniversary, Sloane was selected as one of ten exceptional women recognized for their leadership, service, and innovation in the non-profit sector.

This honor included a $25,000 grant, which has directly supported our efforts to provide a supportive, welcoming environment for immigrant and refugee families in Pittsburgh and beyond.

Advocacy on a National Stage

The Women of Worth platform allowed us to share our mission with a much broader audience. In a time of increasing division and harmful rhetoric against immigrant and refugee communities, it was especially meaningful to openly celebrate our work on such a large scale.

As part of this honor, Sloane had the opportunity to uplift our work on huge platforms: like a segment with Live with Kelly & Mark, a spread in Vogue highlighting the honorees, and an interview by actress and advocate Sophia Bush in a red carpet livestream hosted by Vanity Fair.

From Arrival to Belonging

While the national recognition was a major milestone, the award ultimately celebrates the work happening on the ground. Hello Neighbor started small, with the simple act of sharing dinner with one newly resettled family. 9 years later, here we are: having served over 5000 new neighbors, surrounded by a dedicated and growing network of community support.

We are incredibly proud to see Sloane recognized alongside such an extraordinary group of women, and we are grateful to L’Oréal Paris for the grant and the opportunity to amplify our message.
