On Friday, October 10, we hosted our biggest event of the year— the Neighborhood Nosh, and joined our community for a truly unforgettable night. The spirit of belonging came alive in our gorgeous venue, This is Red, as neighbors across Pittsburgh came together to celebrate the cultures, cuisines, and stories that make our community so special.

To kick off the evening, guests enjoyed sweet & savory pastries from Jak’s Bakery, signature cocktails & an open bar, a silent auctions with unique items from beloved Pittsburgh businesses, artisans, and sports teams, a wine pull, a photo booth, and henna artwork from Wildflower Henna.

Later, we enjoyed incredible dishes from some of Pittsburgh’s finest immigrant- and refugee-owned restaurants, Chaykhana, Cilantro y Ajo, Jak’s Bakery, Geppetto Café, Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, and Secretos de Mis Abuelos.

Our CEO and founder Sloane Davidson then took the stage for the program, where we had the privilege of honoring four incredible partners: Brian Stowell, Corey O’Connor, Kimpton Hotel Monaco, and Church of the Ascension, whose leadership and compassion help make Pittsburgh a more welcoming city for all.  Then, we reached the heart of the evening— our Mission Moment, where we shared the story of a family from Nicaragua built a new life in Pittsburgh through Hello Neighbor after facing persecution & displacement in their home country. We then had the privilege of introducing our surprise special guest Hugo Cruz, an award-winning Cuban-born drummer and composer. His performance brought the room and the dance floor to life, and the Cleveland Keys kept the energy flowing by filling out the rest of the night with their interactive dueling-piano show.

As the night came to a close, we reflected on the joy, connection, and sense of shared purpose that filled the evening. Guests wound down while enjoying coffee and dessert from Novaria Syrian Coffee Co., placing final bids, and taking a quite moment to view our storytelling exhibition featuring portraits and personal stories from our neighbors.

And together, we achieved something incredible. This year, we set an ambitious goal: to raise $100,000 in one night. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community, we did it! Every dollar raised will go directly toward providing resettled families with the support and services they need to start building their new lives here with dignity and hope.

With Nosh behind us, we are overwhelmed with gratitude. Neighborhood Nosh was a tangible reflection of the power of our community, and to everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, performed, or shared their story, thank you for making this night one to remember.
