This has been a heavy stretch. The past few weeks, and frankly, this entire year, have brought uncertainty, policy whiplash, and a level of fear in our immigrant and refugee communities that I wish I could shield every family from.

At Hello Neighbor, we started 2025 absorbing the shock of the federal government’s refusal to reimburse completed work. We saw a refugee resettlement program, decades strong, dismantled almost overnight. We’ve weathered rapidly shifting immigration policies, sudden pauses on processing, and new fears around safety, belonging, and what tomorrow might bring.

And through every one of those moments, you stood with us.

You asked for ways to help your neighbors.

You shared food, time, rides, patience, and love.

You made sure families knew: you are not alone here.

Today, as the ground continues to shift beneath us, I want to be absolutely clear:

Hello Neighbor is here — and we are not going anywhere.

We remain committed to walking beside our newest neighbors with dignity, clarity, and unwavering steadiness. Our team has been working with integrity and empathy to help families understand fast-moving policy changes, navigate food insecurity, and access the support systems they rely on. If we can’t keep up with the changes, imagine how overwhelming it feels for the families living inside that uncertainty every day. This is why your support matters so much.

To our volunteers, donors, and supporters: Your presence in this work — especially now — is the anchor that keeps our community steady. Thank you for showing up with courage and compassion.

To our refugee and immigrant clients: You belong here. You matter. You are valued not because of what you’ve survived, but because of who you are. We are proud to serve you, proud to know you, and proud to stand beside you.

In moments like these, it’s easy to feel powerless. But in community, none of us are. We will keep listening. We will keep showing up. And we will keep fighting for a future where every refugee and immigrant family can build a life without fear.
