Pittsburgh, PA (January 28, 2020) – Refugee advocate and Hello Neighbor Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Sloane Davidson, has been selected as a member of the Presidential Leadership Scholars (PLS) program, PLS announced yesterday. During the six-month program, the Scholars will rotate meetings among the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation in College Station, Texas; the William J. Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas; the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas; and the Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation in Austin, Texas. During the program, the class will gain the skills necessary to work across divides and develop a network that spans traditional geographic, professional, political, and economic boundaries, and then put their learning into action through a personal leadership project, intended to solve a problem or pressing issue in their community, country, or the world.

“To be selected for the Presidential Leadership Scholars Program and have the opportunity to learn from so many different leaders and advisors of our country is a tremendous honor,” said Sloane Davidson, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hello Neighbor. “I am positive this experience will enable myself and my team to continue to change the refugee experience in American for the better.”

As part of her application, Davidson was required to submit a project she will work on for the duration of PLS. Davidson wrote about the Hello Neighbor Network, which brings together a cohort of nonprofit leaders that are dedicated to helping refugees as they navigate their new lives in America. The Network recognizes organizations doing similar work with refugees that are siloed in cities across the country and could benefit from collaboration. As part of PLS, Sloane will continue to build the Hello Neighbor Network in order to combat polarization and increase inclusiveness for refugees in communities across the nation.

Davidson currently sits on the Board of Resolve Network, an NGO based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, that focusing on jobs for women in post-conflict countries through microfinance, and the prestigious Indiana University’s Lilly School of Philanthropy Women’s Philanthropy Institute. She was a 2009 Kiva Fellow in the Philippines and has been invited to speak on her activism at The Clinton Global Initiative and The World Economic Forum. Davidson has been named a 40 Under 40 by Pittsburgh Magazine and received numerous awards and recognition for her work at Hello Neighbor.
