Help us reach our goal of raising $50,000 in the 2025 holiday season. Every dollar donated will be DOUBLED up to $20,000 thanks to a generous match from a local family foundation.
This year, our theme for Giving Tuesday and End of Year, It Takes a Neighborhood, reminds us that in times of challenge, we rise by lifting one another up.
Across the country, policies are shifting, funding is shrinking, and the challenges facing immigrant and refugee families are growing. In a year marked by uncertainty and change, we’ve had to find new ways to move forward, together.
Like the phoenix rising from the ashes, our new neighbors are rebuilding their lives from the ground up. As they do, Hello Neighbor is rebuilding alongside them, finding new ways to meet urgent needs, expand critical programs, and keep the spirit of welcoming alive in Pittsburgh.
And we’re not doing it alone. Like the families we serve, we draw strength from our community to persevere, adapt, and continue our mission.
Now, we need each other more than ever.
Join us in proving that no one rebuilds alone. Give today to keep the spirit of welcoming alive.

Rising From the Ashes
There’s no way around it. 2025 has been a difficult year for our community.
Increased ICE activity and delays in legal status processing have created a climate of fear and uncertainty for our new neighbors. SNAP benefit freezes and changes to eligibility have left families unsure of how they will meet their most basic needs. Efforts to terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian immigrants have placed families at risk of losing the stability they’ve fought to build. And federal funding cuts have made it harder for organizations like ours to continue providing the essential support refugees and immigrants depend on.
But through it all, our commitment has not wavered. At Hello Neighbor, we’ve still been growing, changing, and finding new ways to serve our new neighbors even better.

One year of service in Charleroi
This year, we completed our first year of programming for the Haitian community in Charleroi! Since October 2024, we’ve served 480 clients across households, providing perinatal education and baby supplies for new and expecting moms, legal education, and social service support provided by a Haitian Wellness Liaison.
One Year of Impact:
- 250 Office Hours Hosted
- 60+ Car Seats Distributed
- 34 Served in Smart Start Perinatal Program
- 25 Babies born
- 5 Legal Education Sessions

Hiring drivers to keep our work moving
In the fall, we hired two indispensable members of our team: drivers Basel and Orlando. Both came to Pittsburgh as refugees (Basel from Syria, Orlando from Venezuela), and the Hello Neighbor team was by their side as they built their new lives.
Now, they’re doing the same for others, helping clients access essential programs and services.
For many of our new neighbors, accessing transportation can be a significant obstacle when trying to lay down roots in their new home. Our eventual goal for our clients is self-sufficiency, but sometimes that path begins with additional support. Orlando and Basel’s work helps to bridge that gap, from picking clients up from the airport when they first arrive to transporting them to medical appointments, job interviews, Hello Neighbor events, and more.

Expanding Immigration Legal Services to the community
In a time of elevated fear and uncertainty around legal status, receiving compassionate guidance through legal processes is especially valuable for the immigrant community.
To fill this need, we expanded our Immigration Legal Services team, and we’re now offering low-cost, income-adjusted services to immigrants and refugees across the Pittsburgh area.
Our team is ready to assist with:
- Green Card applications and replacements/Adjustment of Status
- Marriage-based immigrant visa petitions
- Family reunification
- Citizenship applications
When our neighbors have a caring partner to guide them in the process to secure permanent status, they can focus on what matters most: raising their families, finding meaningful work, and contributing to the communities they now call home.
Your generosity paves the road from arrival to belonging.
The support of our neighborhood keeps us strong in the face of uncertainty and allows us to continue providing vital services to immigrant & refugee families.
Make a donation today to help us reach our goal of $50,000 by December 31, 2025.
