Ramadan 2026
At Hello Neighbor, we see Ramadan as a beautiful opportunity to bring people together while supporting refugees and immigrants in our community. We invite everyone, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, to take part by learning about Ramadan, giving in meaningful ways, and helping us create welcoming spaces where everyone feels they belong.
Ramadan is a holy month in Islam centered on reflection, generosity, and caring for others. During this time, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset and gather in the evenings to share a meal called Iftar, which breaks the fast. In 2026, Ramadan is expected to begin on the evening of Wednesday, February 18, and end on Friday, March 20, though exact dates may vary depending on the sighting of the new moon. Iftar is a special moment of community, connection, and hospitality, often shared with family, friends, and neighbors.
Giving During Ramadan
Throughout Ramadan, our website will offer the option to schedule daily Zakat donations, an obligatory form of charitable giving in Islam. A Zakat calculator will help donors easily determine their giving amount, and supporters can select the “Daily” frequency to choose a start and end date for their contributions (which can be set in advance). Donations will automatically stop on the selected end date, making it easy to give every day during Ramadan or for any period you choose.
Zakat donations will support:
- Fi Sabilillah (the cause of Allah): protecting and supporting those facing hardship and injustice
- Ibn Al-Sabil (the traveler in need): helping refugees and displaced immigrants far from home
All Zakat donations will be clearly designated and used in accordance with Islamic guidelines to directly support our clients and will not be used for administrative costs, fundraising, or general operations.
We also offer the option to give Sadaqah (voluntary giving) to help provide meals for clients and families during our community Iftar and to support participation so that everyone can feel welcomed and included.
