Program Details

We run on a cohort model, which means you entire class will start at the same time. Our next cohort will kickoff November 1st, 2018.

Primary Expectations

  • 6-month initial commitment
  • Spend quality time and communicate with your mentee
  • Communication with Hello Neighbor
  • Attendance at Hello Neighbor events
  • Be a friend
  • Advocate for Hello Neighbor

Hello Neighbor is committed to you giving as much as you get during your mentorship. That is why during the program you receive mandatory orientation training to understand refugee issues and the refugee resettlement process as well as a workbook that guides you through the mentoring process and gives you the tools and resources necessary to understand the global refugee crisis and how that affects refugees in Pittsburgh. We also host FREE Hello Neighbor events that will help you introduce your mentee to Pittsburgh and ongoing case support from staff to support your relationship as it grows.

We are currently in the process of launching our third cohort.

Important Dates

  • August and September - Matching Mentors and Mentees
  • Mid-September - Send out acceptances for Cohort 3
  • October 6th - Save The Date! Mandatory Mentee In-Person Orientation
  • October 13th - Save The Date! Mandatory Mentor In-Person Orientation
  • Mid-October - Mentor/Mentee Introductions
  • November - The real work (and fun) begins!

Applications are closed for our Fall 2018 cycle, but we are still accepting applications for future cohorts.

At this time, the program is only for those who reside in Greater Pittsburgh. However, if you do not live in the Pittsburgh area, there are other ways you can get involved.
