Mentor.

Become a mentor to a recently resettled refugee family.

Hello Neighbor is a mentorship program where neighbors, people like you, are matched with recently resettled refugee families. The goal of a mentor is to be a friend, ally, and advocate to a refugee family and help support them in their new lives. Our mentorship program is currently limited to the Pittsburgh, PA area.

Refugees receive support for the many challenges they face in their first 7 years in the United States including guidance with everything from finding a new job, how to look for and find new housing, how to sign up their children for school, how to navigate American systems and culture and above all an opportunity to explore and enjoy their new city through a series of events and programs produced by Hello Neighbor. Because of the isolation many refugees face when they are first resettled, it is difficult to measure the impact a program like Hello Neighbor has on their lives but through our first program in 2017, we heard positive feedback from all involved. In fact, 100% of program participants said this program impacted their lives and they would recommend it to others.

Hello Neighbor provided our family with an amazing opportunity, and our mentee family opened up our minds and our hearts. They are truly unbelievable people and have changed us as people throughout this program!
